Louis Vuitton makes more bags than Hermes or Chanel, so a fair offer comes down to the details: which canvas, which size, and how the leather trim has aged. Here is what we look at when you sell a Louis Vuitton bag to us in New York.

We buy and consign Louis Vuitton bags at our office on West 47th Street, and quote from photos for sellers outside the city.

The Louis Vuitton bags we buy most
Neverfull, Speedy and Alma
The everyday canvas bags. The Neverfull MM and GM sell best with their pouch; the Speedy in 25, 30 and 35, with or without the Bandouliere strap; and the Alma PM and BB.
Pochette Metis, Capucines and Twist
The Pochette Metis is one of the most asked-for LV bags on the resale market. The Capucines and Twist are leather bags, so we judge them on the leather and hardware rather than the canvas.
Keepall, Noe, Onthego and older pieces
We also look at the Keepall, Noe, Onthego, Multi Pochette and vintage canvas bags. Send photos and the date code or a note that the bag has a chip.
What sets the offer on a Louis Vuitton bag
- Canvas. Monogram, Damier Ebene, Damier Azur and Empreinte leather each have their own market. Azur shows dirt more, so it is judged harder on condition.
- Vachetta trim. The natural leather on handles and trim darkens to honey with use. Even patina is normal; water spots, cracks and dark stains lower the figure.
- Corners and piping. Rubbed or split corners and piping that has cracked through.
- Lining and interior. Stains, sticky linings on older bags, and pen marks.
- Date code or chip. Bags before 2021 have a date code stamped inside; newer bags carry a microchip.
- The set. Pouch, strap, lock and keys, dust bag, box and receipt.
Is an LV bag worth selling?
Often, yes, even when it has been used for years. Coated canvas wears well, and a Neverfull or Speedy with honey-coloured handles and clean corners still has buyers. Where the figure drops is on bags with cracked canvas at the folds, split piping, a sticky or peeling lining, or handles that are black and brittle rather than evenly darkened.
Before you come in, look at the bag the way a buyer would: in daylight, corners first, then handles, then inside. If you are unsure whether it is worth the trip, send photos and ask. We would rather tell you up front than have you travel for an offer you will not like.
What to bring
The bag, any pouch or strap that came with it, and a photo ID. Do not scrub the vachetta: water and cleaners leave marks that cost more than the dirt.
Getting paid, or consigning
Accept the offer and we pay on the spot in cash, or by check, wire or Zelle. Or consign the bag with us and wait for the sale. Have a Chanel or Hermes bag too? We can quote on everything in one visit.

Questions people ask
My Neverfull is missing its pouch. Does that matter?
A little. The bag sells without it, but the pouch is part of the set and adds to the figure.
The handles have gone dark. Can I still sell?
Yes. Even darkening is normal on vachetta. Cracks, water spots and dark stains are what lower the offer.
Where is the date code?
On most bags it is stamped on a small leather tab or inside a pocket. Bags made from 2021 have a chip instead and no code.
How will I be paid?
Cash on the spot, or by check, wire or Zelle.
