Most of the Chanel bags we see are flap bags, and most of the questions are the same: lambskin or caviar, which size, and is the card still around. This page answers those and explains how selling a Chanel bag to us in New York works.

We buy and consign Chanel bags at our office on West 47th Street, and quote from photos for sellers outside the city.

The Chanel bags we buy most
Classic Flap
Mini, Small, Medium (the 11.12), Jumbo and Maxi. Black caviar with gold or silver hardware is the most asked-for, and the Medium and Jumbo sell fastest. Seasonal colours and tweeds are priced case by case.
Boy Bag and Reissue 2.55
The Boy Bag in its old, new medium and large sizes, and the Reissue 2.55 with its Mademoiselle lock. Aged calfskin on the Reissue is meant to look worn, so we judge it differently from smooth lambskin.
Wallet on Chain, 19, Gabrielle and totes
The Wallet on Chain is one of the easiest Chanel pieces to sell. We also buy the Chanel 19, Gabrielle, Deauville and Grand Shopping totes, and vintage flaps from the 1980s and 1990s.
What sets the offer on a Chanel bag
- Leather. Caviar is grained and tough; lambskin is soft and shows scratches, corner wear and creasing sooner.
- Quilting and shape. Puffy, even quilting and a flap that sits flat score well. Dents and a curled flap do not.
- Corners and piping. The base corners and the piping around the edges show wear first.
- The CC turn lock and chain. Scratches, plating loss and a chain that has darkened or lost its leather weave.
- Serial number. Older bags have a hologram sticker inside and usually a matching card; bags from 2021 on carry a microchip instead.
- The set. Box, dust bag, card, receipt and ribbon or camellia if you kept them.
Why Chanel prices move
Chanel raises its retail prices on the Classic Flap most years, and that pulls the resale price of a good used flap along with it. The flip side is that a bag in poor condition does not follow: buyers who pay close to retail want a bag that looks close to new. That is why a Medium Flap in caviar with sharp corners can be worth far more than the same bag in lambskin with rubbed corners and a creased flap.
Colour matters too. Black, beige and navy are always asked for. Bright seasonal colours and tweeds have a smaller pool of buyers, so we price them on what we expect to resell them for, and we tell you that plainly.
What to bring
The bag, a photo ID and any of the set you still have. If the serial sticker has peeled or faded, bring the bag anyway: we look at the whole piece, not one sticker. Keep the bag stuffed and stored upright before your visit so the flap does not crease.
Getting paid, or consigning
Accept the offer and we pay on the spot in cash, or by check, wire or Zelle. Or consign the bag and wait for the sale. Selling more than one bag? Bring your Hermes or Louis Vuitton pieces too.

Questions people ask
Lambskin or caviar: does it change the price?
It can. Caviar holds its shape and hides wear well; lambskin shows scuffs and corner rubbing sooner, so condition weighs more on a lambskin bag.
I lost the authenticity card. Can I still sell?
Yes. The card helps, but we check the bag itself before any final offer.
Do you buy vintage Chanel?
Yes, including older flaps with 24k gold-plated hardware. Send photos of the inside stamp and serial sticker.
How will I be paid?
Cash on the spot, or by check, wire or Zelle.
