Hermes bags hold their value better than almost anything else in a closet, which is exactly why selling one deserves a little care. This page explains what we look at when you sell a Hermes bag to us in New York, what to bring, and how payment works.

We buy and consign Birkin, Kelly, Constance, Evelyne, Picotin, Lindy, Garden Party and other Hermes bags at our office on West 47th Street. If you are outside the city, we can quote from photos and you can ship the bag in.

The Hermes bags we buy most
Birkin
Sizes 25, 30, 35 and 40, plus the HAC. Togo, Epsom, Clemence and Swift are the leathers we see most; exotic skins are priced on their own. Size, colour, leather and hardware (gold, palladium, rose gold) all move the figure.
Kelly
Kelly 20 to 35, Sellier or Retourne, and the Kelly Pochette and Kelly Danse. Sellier bags have sharp stitched edges that show corner wear quickly, so we look closely there.
Constance, Evelyne, Picotin, Lindy and Garden Party
These are easier to buy new than a Birkin or Kelly, so condition and colour matter more. A clean Constance 18 or a Picotin in a neutral colour sells readily.
What sets the offer on a Hermes bag
- The stamp. The blind stamp, a letter that marks the year, tells a buyer roughly how old the bag is.
- Corners and edges. Rubbing on the four base corners and cracked edge paint are the first signs of use.
- Handles. Darkening from hand oils and any loss of shape at the handle base.
- Hardware. Scratches on the turn lock, plates and feet, and whether the plating has worn through.
- Shape. Slouching or a sagging front flap lowers the figure, especially on a Birkin.
- The set. Box, dust bag, receipt, lock, keys, clochette, raincoat and twilly if you have them.
Where to sell a Hermes bag in New York
You have three real choices in the city, and each suits a different seller.
- A consignment shop. Often the highest figure on paper, but you wait for a buyer, pay a commission, and a Birkin in an unusual colour can sit for months.
- Selling online yourself. You keep more of the price, but you handle photos, questions, returns and the risk of shipping a five-figure bag to a stranger. Many platforms also take a fee and hold payment until their own check is done.
- A direct buyer like us. A lower figure than a retail resale price, because we take on the time and risk of reselling. In return you are paid the day you agree, with no listing, no returns and no wait.
If speed matters, sell outright. If price matters more than time, ask us about consigning. Either way, getting a quote costs nothing.
What to bring
The bag, a photo ID, and whatever came with it. If the lock and keys are missing, tell us when you ask for a quote; it changes the figure but rarely stops a sale. Do not try to clean or condition the leather before you come in: a home treatment can darken Togo or Swift for good.
Getting paid, or consigning
Agree to the offer and we pay on the spot in cash, or by check, wire or Zelle. If you would rather wait for a higher price, ask about consigning the bag with us instead. Want to compare first? We are happy to quote on a Chanel bag or a Louis Vuitton bag at the same visit.

Questions people ask
Can you price my Birkin from photos?
We can give a close working figure from clear photos of the front, back, base corners, handles, hardware and the blind stamp. The final offer comes once we see the bag.
My Hermes has no box or receipt. Will you still buy it?
Yes. The box and receipt help, but the bag is what we are buying.
Do you buy exotic Hermes bags?
Send us the details first. Exotic skins need their own paperwork when they are sold on, so ask before you travel.
How will I be paid?
Cash on the spot, or by check, wire or Zelle.
